Goma – Bunyonyi, Uganda
06h00: Arrive at Emmanuel Port, Goma, Congo DRC about 100kms in the North. The boat will sail through the beautiful Lake Kivu where you will witness many small islands. After domestic Immigration, drive to a restaurant for breakfast.
After breakfast, drive to visit ‘Volcano Observatory office’ and collect first hand info about world’s biggest lava lake and how it is monitored in different sections of the Observatory.
Then, visit the ‘Goma Souvenir Market’. Different models of Tchikudu, gorillas and pirogue, as well as famous African jewelry and masks are found here.
13h00 – Lunch at Au Bon Pain / Paradise Club (Ethiopian + Eritrean buffet) / Ble D’or (Lebanese Restaurant).
14h00 – After lunch, drive to Grand Barriere post for exit from DRC.
After Immigration formalities at Goma and then Rwanda ($30 visa on arrival paid by tourists) side, take another vehicle to drive to Bunyonyi Lake in Uganda (about 160 kms in 4.5 hours). After border formalities of Rwanda and Uganda, continue Eastwards about 50 kms to reach the Lake. ($50 Visa on arrival for Uganda paid by tourists).

Bunyonyi Overland Resort is ecologically built, with local materials. It is locally owned and provides important employment opportunities for the people around the lake.
Lake Bunyonyi has no bilharzias, no crocodiles, no hippos, and due to its altitude malaria is rather scarce - you could hardly find a friendlier body of water than this on Africa.
The name Bunyonyi means "the place of little birds", and it definitely deserves such a name!
